This artwork draws from ritual practices in native Ghanaian societies, particularly the sacred rites surrounding royal death in the Ashanti Kingdom and ancestral veneration among the Ewe of the Volta Region. Central to these rituals are sacred pots, believed to embody the soul and identity of the people—vessels of ancestral blessing, quietly safeguarded within households. Through this work, I highlight the cultural and spiritual significance of these rituals, not as acts of superstition or evil, but as deeply intentional traditions that shape families, communities, and the very fabric of society.
