This work responds to ongoing police brutality, particularly against African Americans, and the global call for justice led by the Black Lives Matter movement. Despite claims of a post-racial society, the repeated killings of unarmed Black individuals reveal deep-rooted systemic racism. Through an exploration of race theory, racial formation, and the myth of colorblindness, the work underscores the enduring need for BLM—not just in the U.S., but across the Black world’s shared struggle for dignity, equity, and justice.
